‘The View’ Co-Hosts Mock ‘Golden Bachelor’ Divorce: “I Told You So!”
The co-hosts of ABC’s daytime talk show ‘The View’ had a field day reacting to the shocking divorce announcement of ‘Golden Bachelor‘ couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, just three months after their televised wedding.
In a joint interview on ‘Good Morning America‘ on April 12th, the septuagenarian lovebirds revealed they had decided to end their brief union.
On the April 12th episode of ‘The View’, the panel wasted no time weighing in on the split. “When Gerry Turner got married to his final rose Theresa back in January, many said it wouldn’t last,” Joy Behar stated. “Turns out, they were right.”
After playing a clip of Turner confessing he and Nist had “mutually” decided to “dissolve our marriage”, the live studio audience erupted in laughter.
Ana Navarro triumphantly declared, “For six months, you made me talk about this topic every Friday, which I can’t stand. So today, I get to say, ‘I told you so, I told you so, I told you so!'”
The ladies discussed the couple’s reasons for splitting, with Sunny Hostin questioning why they were living in separate states.
“I thought since they were older, they could find love and they didn’t,” Hostin lamented, admitting she had fallen for “this nonsense.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin, a Bachelor franchise superfan, offered her take: “It’s not about watching people find lasting love on The Bachelor. It’s about the social experiment, and it’s bound to fail, but it’s still fascinating to watch.”
Sara Haines joked that the marriage had only outlasted some of her pimples by 20 days.
Meanwhile, ‘Today’ weatherman Al Roker brutally mocked the divorce on-air. “Who would have seen that coming? Unbelievable!” he exclaimed sarcastically when the news broke. “It just goes to show that old people can be just as stupid.”

Turner, 72, and Nist, 70, who met on the senior citizen spin-off ‘The Golden Bachelor‘ last year, tied the knot in a live TV special on January 4th.
Despite the split, they insisted their love remained strong. “I still love this person,” Turner declared. “I still am in love with her. I root for her every day.”
The ill-fated romance marked the first divorce for the ‘Bachelor’ franchise, which has long struggled to produce lasting relationships.
With a ‘Golden Bachelorette‘ in the works, fans and critics alike will be watching to see if the “golden years” edition fares any better at forging enduring love stories.
