Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is no stranger to the glitz and glam of red carpets. According to analysts, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s exit from the royal family has forced them to “kickstart their star quality,” as the couple “has stepped up their lavish appearances,” according to The Mirror.
Kate dazzled in black and white at the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick just a few weeks ago. Roland Mouret stole the show at the premiere of James Bond film No Time to Die last year in a glittering gold Jenny Packham gown. A panel of experts on True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat discussed how the Cambridges had gone through a “monumental transformation” since their tenth wedding anniversary in 2021.
“Tiaras, ball gowns, velvet, and walks down the red carpet with Tom Cruise have replaced their wax coats and walks with the dogs,” royal analyst Duncan Larcombe adds. “It’s about that coming of age…the Prince and Princess of Wales in waiting,” says the narrator.
Tessa Dunlop, a royal specialist and historian, believes that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are responsible for some of the changes.
“I think we have to give some respect to prince Harry and Meghan Markle,” she continues, “because I believe they forced the couple to slightly restart their star quality.”
Even before the days of red carpets, tuxedos, and fancy gowns, they had one VIP fan in particular: Her Majesty the Queen, who recognized the power of the couple on their wedding day in 2011.
“On the day of her grandson’s nuptials, the Queen was gloriously cheerful, ‘practically skipping’ according to one observer, totally overjoyed with the public’s reaction to the royal newlyweds,” writes Andrew Morton in his new book, The Queen (opens in new tab). “She had the feeling that the royal family’s, her family’s, future was now assured.” The monarchy had regained the people’s admiration and affection.”
