What Is SWGA Login?
According to the Continuing Education and Training Act, Act No. 16 of 2006, as amended, South West Gauteng College (SWGA Login) is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), formerly known as FET, college that operates under the direction of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Umalusi and numerous Sector Education and Training Authorities (Seta’s) have granted the College accreditation to provide education and training, primarily in the FET band (NQF Level 2 to 4). Some programmes are available in the N4 to N6 levels of the Higher Education band. The college is one of the biggest in the nation with about 30 000 students enrolled.
More About SWGA:
The College is a true citadel of education and training for communities in its extensive catchment area and beyond. With its head office located at Molapo Campus in Soweto and campuses spread through Soweto (3), Roodepoort (2), and Randburg (1), as well as the “LAND IS WEALTH FARM” in Sterkfontein, the College has campuses throughout these cities.
It is not an exaggeration to claim that thanks to the Technisa Campus’s efforts to promote distance learning and electronic forms of instruction, “we now surface everywhere!”
The revised TVET curriculum, which spans three years and culminates in the National Certificate (Vocational) [NC (V)], has been taught in (FET) TVET colleges since 2007. As a result of obtaining this certification, students can pursue two different career paths. Those who get their NC (V) Level 4 qualification will have been exposed to a curriculum with a clear vocational focus, making them more marketable to prospective employers. Since its release at the year’s end of 2009, the first group of NC (V) alums have been warmly welcomed by the job market and the economy.
Depending on their performance in Level 4, NC (V) graduates may also continue their studies at a University or University of Technology to get a post-NQF Level 4 credential. If students go this way, it will be with a solid grounding in technical knowledge from their three years at the university. Students who have earned an NC (V) Level 4 qualification can learn more about the College’s admissions requirements for higher education by consulting the College Prospectus, which is available online, in the Student Support and Marketing Offices, and at the College’s main campus.
Importantly, students interested in pursuing a vocational path in Engineering Studies, Business Studies, or Utility Studies no longer need to remain in school until they have completed Grade 12, as many colleges now provide a three-year vocational certificate. Learners with a lower school grade (such as Grade 9) can still enrol in this certification, however those with a higher grade (such as Grade 11 or even Grade 12) will benefit more from the content covered.
Starting in 2018, with funding from the government and the Department of Higher Education and Training, they provided a “fee-free” education to low-income and working-class citizens of South Africa, defined as those with an annual joint family income of less than R 350 000.
