Ric was Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 23, 1944.He moved to Cleveland, attended and graduated from Maple Heights High in 1963. He enrolled at Bowling Green State University but later left to focus on his music career instead.During this time, he met Benjamin Orr, who would become a lifelong friend and bandmate.
