Old Spice deodorant recalls in Canada

It comes as a shock to everyone out there that old spice deodorant has been totally recalled in Canada due to high benzene levels.

On Tuesday, an announcement is made by The Procter & Gamble Company that eight specific offerings were included in the recall, all of which were being sold and distributed nationwide in Canada in stores and online. They claimed that Benzene is a chemical that can potentially cause cancer, depending on the level and extent of exposure.

These recalled products, include Old Spice Sweat Defense Ultimate Captain Dry Spray; Old Spice Sweat Defense Pure Sport Plus Dry Spray; Secret Dry Spray Lavender; Old Spice Sweat Defense Stronger Swagger Dry Spray; Secret Baby Powder Spray; Secret Outlast Completely Clean Dry Spray; Secret Outlast Protecting Powder Dry Spray; and Secret Dry Spray Waterlily.

P&G said the “people should stop using the affected aerosol spray products immediately and discard them fully,” and don’t freak out as reimbursements will be offered.

As per the reports of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, benzene is a highly flammable substance that can damage the immune system and cause cells to not work correctly. It can be absorbed through the skin, inhalation, and orally.

The company said that “All other Old Spice and Secret products are not impacted by this issue and may continue to be used as intended. This represents the wide array of our products, including deodorants, body spray products, solid sticks, soft solids, and gel antiperspirants.”
