Half of the magnetic field has already caused major changes in our galaxy, especially during a (known) cycle that lasts an average of 11 years. Each of these cycles has a period of high activity, with a large number of sunspots visible on the surface, which is a period of rest.
Radiation protection solutions exist or are being considered. One method is to study the storm, determine the expected intensity, and build objects that can withstand this magnetic flux. Building research is expensive, but there is no need to predict the nature of the sun. Another solution is coronal matter emissions (CME) monitoring.
It takes four days to reach the earth, which gives you time to protect yourself. Its strength depends on the internal magnetic field of the sun and can only be measured when it explodes on the earth.
