How To Register MyCRA And Get CRA user ID and Password

Individuals’ My Account

You will need to do two things.

First Part: Give your personal details

1. Type in your Social Security number.
2. Type in your birth date.
3. Enter your current postal code or ZIP code.
4. Put in a number that you put on one of your tax or benefit returns. Keep a copy of your tax return with you. (The amount asked for on the line will vary. It could be from this year’s taxes or from the year before.) To sign up, you must have filed and paid a tax return for one of these two years.
5. Set up a user ID and password for the CRA.
6. Make up your security questions and the answers to them. You can also choose if you want a “persistent cookie” to be put on your computer so that you can use the same computer to sign in to CRA services later without having to give more information.
7. Sign up for mandatory multi-factor authentication by choosing the method you like best (telephone or passcode grid).

After you finish step one of the registration process, you will be able to use My Account to see some tax information. After you enter your CRA security code, you can use all of the services in My Account, including the Auto-fill my return service.

Second Part: Type in the security code from the CRA

1. Go back to My Account for Individuals, click “CRA Sign In,” and then enter your CRA user ID and password. This will let you into your account. Enter your CRA security code when asked.

With a Sign-In Partner, you can sign in to CRA sign-in services. This option lets you sign in with the same information you may already have, like for online banking.

2. Submit your personal data

12. Additionally, you can use a Sign-In Partner to log into the MyCRA mobile app. You can use the same sign-in details you may already have, such as for online banking, by choosing this option.
