The governments of Canada and Ontario have entered into a legal contract known as the Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA). It spells out the commitments you’re making and the parameters under which you’re agreeing to take out a student loan. It’s like signing a contract once, but for the rest of your life; a debt that lasts forever (some exemptions apply).

How To Apply for New online process
With the arrival of May 2018, the MSFAA procedure has been split into two distinct phases.
- First, visit the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) online and sign up with your 10-digit MSFAA number.
- Second, Read the terms and conditions of the online MSFAA and agree to them.
When and how does the process begin?
For the 2018-2019 school year, the OSAP application process begins around the middle of May. If you’ve already sent in an application, the following will show up on the “Required Documents” page:
- Your 10-digit MSFAA ID.
- When the NSLSC will send you an email with the internet location where you can submit your MSFAA online.
- A guide for finishing off the procedure online.
A notice will also be sent to your address of record if you have requested written correspondence from the ministry in regards to your application.

How To MSFAA Sign-In Partner Portal
- Log in with the same credentials you use for all other online accounts (e.g. online banking).
- The NSLSC will not gain access to any of your personal data. In order to protect your privacy, your Sign-In Partner will be unaware of the specific government service you are using.
- In order to access your Sign-In Partner, you will be leaving the NSLSC website for a short period of time.
How To Login MSFAA With GCKey Access
- If you don’t want to use one of the Sign-In Partners, you can still log in with GCKey.
- If you don’t already have a GCKey user ID and password, you may sign up for one here.
- You need to make a new GCKey user ID if you have forgotten your old one.
- How do I find my Msfaa?
Sign into your OSAP account and navigate to the “Required documents” section to view your 10-digit MSFAA number. You can also verify the paper notice that would have been delivered to you if you had requested mail notification from the ministry.
- How long does Msfaa take to process?
How soon you may expect to get your money. Once your MSFAA is approved and your enrollment has been verified, the awarded monies will be transferred to your bank account or sent directly to your chosen educational institution. It takes between seven to ten business days after confirmation of enrollment for the deposit to be made.
- How do I access my Nslsc account?
You must sign up with GCKey or a Sign-in Partner to gain access to your account (Government Sign-In by Verified.Me). It will take about 20 minutes to complete this procedure. Be sure to sign up for a new account since your old NSLSC credentials will no longer function.
- How do I check my student loan payment history?
Log in to studentaid.gov to see your NSLDS records. Your federal student loan balance, disbursement dates, and contact information will all be displayed in your profile. Your federal loan servicer information is also viewable (s).
- When prompted, why should I provide my SIN?
Your SIN will be checked against existing GCKey and SecureKey databases to see if you have previously registered for the new system, which will assist speed up the transfer process.
- After this is established, you will be sent to either a login page or a help page detailing the following steps.
- Your SIN will only be used to process your registration and will not be kept or used in any other way.
- To have access to your loan account details, you must now register.
- Who has to complete the online MSFAA?
The online MSFAA is only required for first-time OSAP applicants for the 2018-2019 academic year. You can skip filling out the online MSFAA and just submit your paper one instead.
