Memphis, Tennessee is the place where Michael Oher’s birth took place on May 28th, 1986. Denise Oher’s biological father was killed in jail while Denise was a teenager, and her brother was a cellmate of the man who did it. Michael Oher, 16, has Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy as his parents.

Michael Oher benefited monetarily from his time in the NFL as well as the sales of his book, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game. A cinematic adaptation of this work was greenlit in 2006. In 2008, he won a Hugo for his novel. His poetry was also well-received.
Oher joined the Titans on a four year, $42 million contract in March of 2014. He was placed on injured reserve on December 13 after a toe injury forced him to miss two games. He ranked as the 74th best tackle that season, per PFF. Since February 5, 2015, Oher is no longer a member of the Titans.
One month after joining the Panthers, he signed a $7 million, two-year contract. He came to the Panthers largely because of Cam Newton, and he has flourished in his role protecting Newton’s blind side. He had problems in Tennessee, but the Panthers started him at left tackle anyhow. “After reviewing Michael’s background, we believe he can help us. Oher signed a three-year, $21.6 million contract with the Panthers in June of 2016. Just three games into the season, he suffered a concussion that put him out for the rest of the year. Because he was unable to pass a preseason physical, the Panthers released him on July 20.
