At the 2022 Made by Google event, Google unveiled the Pixel 7 series, the Pixel Watch, and additional information on the forthcoming Pixel Tablet. There has been much speculation about a foldable phone from Google, but the company has yet to confirm or deny the existence of this device, and the major announcement this year did little to change that. If the rumours are true, we might not see Google’s first foldable phone until early 2023.

CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), Ross Young, predicts the first Pixel foldable smartphone will launch in the first quarter of 2023. The source, who revealed their information via Twitter, said that panel shipments for the foldable smartphones had begun in january.

It was reported last month by The New York Times that Google is on schedule to release the Pixel Fold in 2023. Specifically, it claims that by 2023, Google will have moved half of its high-end smartphone production from China to Vietnam. While we don’t yet know the exact technical specifications of a Pixel foldable phone, we anticipate that it will have many of the same high-end features as the Pixel 7 series, including the Tensor G2 chipset.

Possible specs for Google’s future foldable Pixel smartphone

The rumoured foldable phone is said to have a triple rear camera system consisting of an IMX787 primary sensor, an IMX386 ultra-wide secondary camera, and an S5K3J1 telephoto shooter. An S5k3J1 telephoto selfie shooter will be added to the device’s outside display. The smartphone is speculated to include a 7.57-inch inner display and a 5.78-inch exterior folding display protected by an ultra-thin glass cover.
