Bluey Fans Rejoice: 28-Minute Special Episode “The Sign” Premieres April 14

Exciting news for fans of the beloved Australian animated series Bluey – a highly anticipated 28-minute special episode titled “The Sign” is set to premiere globally on April 14, 2024. The extra-long installment, which is equivalent to nearly four regular episodes, will air first on ABC Kids and ABC iview in Australia before being released on the same day on Disney+, Disney Junior, and Disney Channel in other regions worldwide.

Prior to the premiere of “The Sign”, fans will be treated to a brand new regular-length episode called “Ghost Basket” on April 7. This episode features the return of Bluey and Bingo’s Grannies alter-egos, Janet and Rita.

According to the show’s production studio Ludo, “The Sign” will be filled with lots of laughs, exciting guest voices, and definitely a few tears.” The episode, written by series creator Joe Brumm and directed by Richard Jeffery, centers around the Heeler family as they prepare for the wedding of Bluey’s babysitter Frisky and Uncle Rad.

The trailer, released by Disney, shows Bluey and Bingo along with their cousins Muffin and Socks excitedly preparing for their roles as flower girls. Glimpses of the wedding festivities, family moments, and a pensive Bluey are shown, hinting at a heartfelt and eventful episode.

Fans have also speculated that the episode may reveal Aunt Brandy, Chilli’s sister, to be pregnant, as a brief shot in the Australian trailer appears to show her with a baby bump. This has sparked discussions, as Brandy’s struggles with infertility were touchingly portrayed in a previous episode.

The Sign boasts an impressive voice cast, with Dave McCormack and Melanie Zanetti reprising their roles as Bandit and Chilli Heeler. Notable guest stars include Patrick Brammall as Uncle Rad, Megan Washington as teacher Calypso, and Rose Byrne as Aunt Brandy. Making their Bluey voice acting debuts are Rove McManus, Deborah Mailman, Brendan Williams and Joel Edgerton.

Bluey has garnered global popularity and critical acclaim for its heartwarming portrayal of family life and childhood imagination. The series has won an International Emmy Kids Award and a BAFTA Children & Young People Award, among other accolades.

After the season 3 finale airs, the show’s creators will be taking a brief hiatus to regroup and ensure the quality of the show remains high before returning with season 4.
