The John Wick spinoff Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas and (allegedly) Keanu Reeves, is set to start filming in Prague on November 7. Production of Ballerina in the Czech Republic is being coordinated by Czech Anglo Productions, which recently oversaw filming of The Crow in the country.

In the following week, production on Ballerina will take place in several places around Prague, including the city centre at the Hotel Opera at Tnov and the Masarykovo nádra railway station.

Ballerina will film in locations all around the Czech Republic, not only in Prague. The action picture will shoot throughout the Czech Republic over the course of the next three months, ending on February 5. More shooting sites will be announced in the following weeks.

Though Reeves’s participation in the film has not been officially announced, the actor has been sighted in Prague and photographed with local fans. In light of his involvement with the John Wick movies, it’s reasonable to assume he’s in town for the filming of Ballerina, if only for a cameo.

Ballerina’s narrative has been kept mostly under wraps so far. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum will likely include Ana de Armas in the role of a ballerina originally performed by New York City Ballet dancer Unity Phelan.

Ballerina is being directed by Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) from a screenplay written by Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead). At the beginning of the year, de Armas announced that Emerald Fennell, the writer and director of Promising Young Woman, had been brought in to make changes to the screenplay.

The John Wick canon will continue to expand with more works than only Ballerina.

Work on John Wick: Chapter 4 just concluded in Berlin and Studio Babelsberg in Germany for a release in the spring of 2019, and production on Chapter 5 is set to begin very soon.

The Continental, a TV spinoff based in the hotels that play a major role in the John Wick world, was shot in Hungary earlier this year. After production concluded in Budapest, star Mel Gibson travelled to Prague.

Ballet superstar Ana de Armas has visited Prague several times. She was in Prague last summer filming for the Netflix hit The Gray Man, and while there she started taking pilates classes at a local studio.
